The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center, Inc. is excited to announce the dates for our Spring Domestic Violence Volunteer Training 2013.
Any employee, intern or volunteer who works with domestic violence survivors in some capacity must complete the PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training. This training is unique in that it is educational, strength-based and grants you the right to maintain Absolute Privilege (Confidentiality) for the Victims.
Please understand this training is extensive and does require a commitment to attending EACH session, as certification cannot be given if the training is not completed in its entirety. Certification in the Domestic Violence training is a wonderful addition to any resume! It also gives you the ability to work at other PA DV Programs without having to complete all of the training hours again.
Also, we are anxious to announce that some portions of the Volunteer Training will be done online this year utilizing PCADV’s new Online Learning Center.
Volunteers are always welcomed and needed here at the HOPE Center. There are opportunities to work directly with adult and child survivors- such as developing and facilitating groups, providing child care, answering the hotline and helping in the ER Shelter…just to name a few. Other opportunities include- sorting and organizing donations and assisting at community awareness events.
The Volunteer Training will begin Monday, March 11th and run every Monday and Wednesday evening 6-9pm for 15 sessions. And it will wrap-up on Monday, April 29th.
Interested applicants can complete our info request form or online application by March 4,2013. If you need additional information, please contact Traci at tarnold@akhopecenter.org or 724.224.1100 (M-F 8a-4p).
We look forward to working with you!
